Bowen Drops its first conference game.

Saturday afternoon Bowen took on Ralph Ellison. This was a rough game full of penalties and mistakes by Bowen yet they only lost 14-6. Early on there was a lot of confusion offensively and defensively. Just when Bowen seemed to get a good play there was a penalty, then mistakes would happen to end drives. Defensively Contain was lost and eventually Ralph Ellison scored their first touchdown but missed the extra point.

Its remained 6-0 all the way to the fourth quarter when Ralph Ellison’s running back broke tackles on a run up the middle and scored, with the 2 pt conversion it was 14 – 0 with a little over 4 minutes remaining. Bowen was driving and then again mistakes hampered the Boilermakers attempts until Greg Elmore connected with Dale Hensley for a touchdown in the final seconds of the game.

There was a lesson learned today but we will have to see if they learn it this week as we prepare for our game on Saturday. Monday will tell the tale of whether the team has learned or hasn’t. Its has yet to be seen but for me I hope they understand and come in more prepared and sharper than they have been. This season is far from over. The players have to make up their minds that they want this and it will happen.
